Tony Larkin and the sports |

Today's interview is with Tony Larkin
of First Choice.
Hi, Tony. How are
you?
"Well, not bad…", (which of course means
not very good. Those of us who know him will remember that he fell
in a disco: a 'work related accident'!), "…but in a better
mood to go out and keep on truckin', ha, ha"
What's your favorite
sport?
"I am a 1000% pambolero." (For
those who have no idea what a pambolero is, it refers to
a soccer fan). "Since I was a kid I liked it and even now,
at 32, I still like it."
Do you play soccer
now?
"Every once in a while I play some short games
with my colleagues from the agency. I've always played the middle
position on the right and try to play with the number 7 jersey,
which is my favorite."
Who is your favorite
player?
"From England (Tony, of course, is English).
I really like how Steve Gerard plays; he has a tremendous right,
is strong and has kicks the ball very nicely. From Mexico I like
how Rafael Márquez, from Barcelona's defense, plays."
So, is your team
from Liverpool?
(Laughingly) "No, my team is Southampton,
a small, second division team. That's the county where I was born.
I've been a fan of Bournemouth, which although not in the first
league, ever since I was little. I've been to the team's stadium,
which is called St. Mary's."
And do you have any
preference for a team in Mexico?
"Of course. My team is Atlante (more laughter).
Last year, I got to celebrate its third championship; it was a blast.
Although I couldn't go to the final because of work commitments,
I followed the team throughout the tournament, including the semi-finals
against hives, where I was able to see the game in the Stadium.
The party that night was huge; everybody danced, drank and the streets
were sheer madness. This year they're not doing so well, but we
believe they'll rise up and take the championship again. I won't
be here to celebrate it, but all follow the games and celebrate
from Hawaii."
What do you mean, from Hawaii?
"Yeah. Next week I'm going to Hawaii to work,
and then will come back to Cancun in 6 months. (Don't despair, girls;
it's only for a while!) You know, for work reasons they make me
move. I leave next week, trying to go to England first to visit
my family and arrive in Hawaii all energized for work."
So, you're going
to read this article on the Internet from the idyllic beaches of
Hawaii. We hope we don't lose touch because you're going to be famous
with the reps after this interview.
"Ok, I'll see it from there, but I hope you
can e-mail it to me so I can read it."
Well, Tony, I have
to say goodbye, but I wish you a very good trip and hope to see
you before you leave.
Note: Since you'll be reading this interview
from Hawaii, we want to send you
a warm greeting from all the team
at Delphinus,
especially Era Cardoso and her girls and the dolphins. Don’t forget
us!
