Do you remember Claire South? |
Claire South Gallery
Many will remember our dearest friend Claire South, former Destination Manager for JMC at that time, now Thomas Cook UK. She worked here from 2000 to 2004. Claire left Cancun three years ago to marry her boyfriend and to live back at her home.
Claire loved the weather, the beach and the water. She didn’t like when she spoke Spanish to some people and they will replied in English!!!. Specially when she spoke better Spanish than their English!!! She remembers her top seller tours when she was in destination, swimming with Dolphins, diving with Scuba Cancun, Rapelling into Cenotes with Alltournative – "there were so many I can honestly say I never went on a bad trip!" mentioned our friend.
Our now mother of a two year old and a baby, Fraser and Tristan, lives in Felixstowe in England. She is not working at the moment as she is on a "maternity leave" for nine months, for her recently born son. In UK Mums are paid some money to be able to stay at home with the children with out working for a while.
She will get back to work, she is a supervising customer service for an American Skin Care Company called Pevonia. It is funny because the Mexican Distributor is based in the Hotel Fiesta Americana Cancun!!!
Claire likes being at home since her family is close by. She doesn't like the color of the sea, actually she lives by the sea in the UK, but is very different to the Yucatan, there isn't even sand!!! It is only pebbles. And as for the weather they have just had the wettest summer ever recorded, it hasn't stopped raining at all!!!!
Felixstowe is very different from Cancun although people do go on vacations there, believe it or not!!!
Her whole live had change a lot from been the Destination Manager to now being married, with a house of her own and two children, and she doesn’t have such responsibilities in her job now.
I have got married, bought a house and had 2 children, I don't have such responsibilities in my job now.
She remembers her friends in México, "the very kind wonderful people I worked with every day (specially everyone in Iberoservice)" mentioned Clarita, as we used to call her. She misses her apartment overlooking the beach, being able to go out and shop, eat, drink, late. She told us that in the UK everything closes early and people eat REALLY early.
Now she has the children and she doesn´t go out so much but she remembers everyone in the bars like Dady's, Fat Tuesdays, Pat O'Briens, she remembers they all looked after her "I really could not have asked for more" mentioned Claire.
She says "hi" to everyone in destination. And for the people now working in Thomas Cook UK she left this message "I hope everyone who works for Thomas Cook in the destination has as good a time there as I did".
