Sofie Buskas worked in the Mayan Riviera last winter from 2006-2007 representing TUI Nordic. Originally from Sweden, Sofie loved Mexico so much, she even got a Mexican boyfriend.
Now Sofie is spending this winter in Cambodia. "It is an amazing country with friendly welcoming people and the country’s terrifying history (of Khmer Rouge 1975-79 with mass killing of about two million Cambodians) mixed with the most beautiful history and archeological sites of Angkor Wat. It’s a pleasure to be guiding in Angkor," says Sofie.
Our blonde Area Manager thinks it's not totally unlike working in Mexico since the people are nice, too and it also has archeological sites like in Mexico, for example the Mayan ruins.
Last year Sofie came to the Mayan Riviera and it was her first time in México, now is also her first time in Cambodia.
When Sofie came to Mexico last year she knew it was a beautiful country but she found her self pleasantly surprised when she came last year, she never forgot the "nice Mexicans" as she calls them.
She remembers all her Mexican co-workers of Mexatlantica and of course the Delphinus staff. And she could never forget the Beautiful beaches.
Now that Sofie went to Cambodia she thought it would be less civilized. But she told us she can find everything she needs in Cambodia. "It’s just in a different way than we are used to. Not polished for tourists, just the way it is in a very poor country," she says. Before she flew to Cambodia she read about Angkor and she expected something spectacular and she believes it was so much bigger and more beautiful that she ever could imagine.
Sofie is not a rookie in tourism she had worked before in Tenerife and Lanzarote in Spain, in Sunny Beach Bulgaria and of course México and this next summer you can find her in Kefalonia in Greece, not sunbathing but hard at work.
The TUI Nordic Area Manager sent us some amazing pictures so you can get a better idea of the exotic place she is at. Check out the gallery and enjoy.
